Taiwanese church workers
2008/05/21
A couple of weeks ago, while Seann and I were out of
the country, one of our teammates, Kerstin, continued
to lead the Sunday group through our study of Acts.
They were reading in chapter 6 where 7 men were
chosen to take on responsibilities in the church. The
apostles prayed and laid their hands on the 7 men.
When the group read that, they told Kerstin, "Some of
us are doing work in our church. Is this something we
should do as well?" They discussed it and agreed that
it would be a good idea. The next week, when we
returned, we were told about this decision and agreed
that it would be a great idea! So, we gathered (in
the photo from left to right) June, who does all
kinds of ministry, including a new one of prayer
walking with Kerstin (in the red shirt), Julie, who
is holding a clay class for kids on Sunday mornings,
Dong-dong, who has an art class for kids on Weds.
evenings, and A-ka, who plays guitar at the Sunday
meeting.
When we laid hands and prayed for these four people, we could tell that it was very meaningful for them. Please keep our friends in your prayers. Pray with us against the evil one trying to keep them from continuing to take steps of faith to serve.
Pray also for this newly planted church as we move forward and as the believers begin to apply the Scriptures to themselves and their church.

new building opening
2008/05/02
Hi, all. We had our big opening on Sunday. There was
a good turn out. Most of the people who came were
personal contacts. However, a few people in the
neighborhood came as well. It was very festive and
lively with lots of food, karaoke and ping-pong. Most
of the time, the place was really quite crowded.
Everybody seemed to have a good time. We had people
sign up for most classes that our Taiwanese believers
are offering as well. It was exciting to see some of
our Taiwanese believers serving at this event,
whether it was helping set up or tear down, or just
talking with people. A couple of the guys in
particular took time to serve the kids by playing
ping-pong and other games with them.
The mother and two sons (11 and 13 years old) from across the street came and had a really good time. In fact, at one point, they left to go to the park. But, as soon as they came back, the boys came right back to the building to hang out there. When the mother came to get them, they didn't want to leave! We found out that this family is related to another contact of Birgit's, but that the two families had not talked for 30 years because of a disagreement. However, when the cousins saw each other, they talked with one another for the first time in 30 years! Maybe the Lord has a plan for reconciliation for this family in more ways than one!
Pray with us that the Lord would use the place as an opportunity for people to hear the Gospel through their interactions with the Christians there.
